Fashion Designers - Christopher

The label Ben Sherman (Arthur Bernard Sugarman) was founded in 1963 by Sugarman who was born in Brighton. He started out making shirts in a Brighton factory and by the late 60's Ben Sherman had become a reputable fashion icon and consolidated as a bran on the global fashion market.

During the 60's the Mods, Skinheads and the Rockers had taken over England and Ben Sherman was a brand on their list of acceptable attire. The brand took off due to the bands that were popular at the time wearing the items. Bands such as The Beatles, The Kinks and The Trogs all took to Ben Sherman fashion and furthered the popularity of it amongst the youth. In the 70's came The Clash and punk music, which also adopted Ben Sherman Clothing as their fashion which increased the popularity in the youth and brought out the boyswear section.

The years to come Ben Sherman's popularity always continually grew to become a fashion icon of global proportion today.
